Kate Dubarry
Postdoctoral research fellow
Kate joined the group as a computational postdoc in 2024. During her PhD, supervised by Dr. Emily Clark at the Roslin Institute, she used novel techniques to characterise the transcriptome of immune cells in healthy sheep. This included generating the first single-cell atlas of sheep PBMCs. She graduated with a BSc in Agriculture from SRUC in 2019, and is a certified telehandler & tractor driver.
Kate is an accomplished public speaker; she was a finalist in the University of Edinburgh 3 Minute Thesis competition, and has spoken at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, graduation ceremonies, public events, as well as scientific meetings. She also has experience launching her own start-up, and strives to find ways to apply scientific discoveries to real-world problems. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping others troubleshoot their code, preferably accompanied by coffee. In her spare time, Kate is mum to 2 cool kids, enjoys sci-fi, horror cinema, playing TTRPGs, and lifting weights.
