Olivier Labayle
Postdoctoral research fellow
Olivier holds a Master of Science in Big Data and Machine Learning from école central de Lyon. After graduation, he worked as a machine learning engineer in various Paris-based startups, gaining practical experience in developing and deploying innovative models and algorithms to solve real-world challenges.
With the goal of enhancing our understanding of the intricacies of human health, he later joined the Biomedical AI CDT program in Edinburgh. There, his PhD research focused on identifying genetic variants and mechanisms responsible for human diseases, combining semi-parametric statistical theory with functional genomics methodologies.
Now, as a postdoctoral statistical geneticist, he is particularly interested in leveraging novel machine learning and causal inference methods to uncover the biological pathways driving disease. His work aims to bridge the gap between data science and medical research, ultimately contributing to advancements in precision medicine and human health.
